About this atlas

The Human Rights Global Atlas is an independent observatory documenting abuses in twelve authoritarian states. One curator runs it.

What we do

We document abuses by states against their own people. The criticism is of governments policies, not of the peoples. Every dispatch links back to its primary source. Check the original reporting yourself.

What's on the watchlist

Twelve countries:

China · Russia · North Korea · Iran · Iraq · Syria · Saudi Arabia · Yemen · Pakistan · Afghanistan · Myanmar · Bangladesh.

A country lands here for two reasons. The scale of documented abuses, and the fact that its government could do something about them and doesn't.
